1986-1991

Daniel Levi studied ceramic design at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam from 1986 to 1991. In 1989 he participated in the Erasmus project, an exchange program with students from the Polytechnic University in Leicester, England. After his studies he regularly exhibits in museums and galleries in the Netherlands and abroad.

1992-2002

He received several grants from the Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture in The Netherlands (1992, 1994, 1995 and 2002) he received a start-up grant and basic grants.

In 1997 he won the prestigious Inax Design Prize for European ceramic designers in Japan, followed by a traveling exhibition. The work is now permanently exhibited in the INAX museum Tokyo/Tokoname, Japan.

In 1998 he presented his work in the television program Klokhuis.

In 1999 and 2000 he stayed in the Netherlands Antilles on invitation of the C.B.K. Rotterdam, The Mondriaan Foundation and the Ministry of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba in occasion of an exchange project between visual artists from both countries. He exhibited at the CuraƧao Museum and taught at various schools.

In the summer of 2002, he participated in the XVIII International Biennale in Vallauris, France.

2007-2016

In 2007 he was invited for an ‘Artist in residence’ program at New York University at the ceramics department and gave workshops to the students of ceramics. He exhibited his work at the New York University Gallery, Washington Square, New York.

Since 2008 he has participated in the traveling exhibition “Confrontational Ceramics” that can be seen in 6 museums in 6 different states in America.

In March 2012 articles were published in the professional journals Neue Keramik, Germany and New Ceramics.

In 2016 he was invited by the Shangyu Celadon-Modern International Ceramic Art Center for the artist residency program “Shangyu Celadon” in China.

2016-now

In recent years his work has been shown at various exhibitions in the Netherlands. His work can also be seen in various private and public collections, including the Inax Museum in Tokyo, the Museum of Islamic Art in Istanbul, (400 years coffeepot NL- Turkey) the KPMG Collection in Utrecht, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague, the Dutch Embassy in Sana’a Yemen and the Shangyu Celadon-Modern International Ceramic Museum China.
